Can a maid uniform be colors other than black and white and still be recognizable as a maid uniform?

No, black and white are the iconic “maid” colors. Anything else is just lolita, sissy, et cetera
Maybe similar colors would work, e.g. dark blue or gray instead of black, or cream or silver instead of white, but nothing too bright.
If there’s a practical reason for the colors being something other than black and white, then why not?
It doesn’t matter what the colors are as long as the outfit style is recognizably “maid”.

- I never noticed or questioned it.
- You should draw both males and females fully clothed.
- You should draw both males and females NOT fully clothed.
- Keep drawing the males with partial clothes; it looks good.

The reason why I ask this is because I’m having a hard time deciding of the servants’ uniforms in a new story that I’m writing. They work on a tropical island, so it would make sense for them to have light(er) colored uniforms to deflect heat, but I don’t know if their outfits will look “maid/butler” enough.
I have some color schemes in mind already and I’ll post pictures in the next couple days.
