I'm back after a record absence. It's been about a month and a half since I've last been on DeviantART, right around when my Premium Membership ended. I doubt I'll renew it any time soon; I'm not on DA anywhere near as often as I used to be, and I want to save my money. For the first time I can remember, I came back to DA to find that I was logged out of my account!
(on a side note, I guess anyone can now post images in their journals, not just Premium Members. When did that change?)
After being absent from DeviantART for over a month, I realize I have mountains of messages in my inbox, and I'm making it a point to whittle those down over the next few days.
I really apologize for the inconveniece. I've had a LOT to keep me busy. For the past couple weeks, I've been down in Florida at my parents' new vacation house, which will eventually become their permanent house once they find jobs in the area. In a way, I feel like a child. Everything I do is on my parents' time rather than mine, and since I don't know the area well and I don't have a car down here, I have to rely on my parents to bring me places. Nonetheless, I'm enjoying Florida more than I ever expected to (I'm a cold weather New Hampshire girl), but I'm not sure I would want to move to Florida after graduation. Maybe if I find a great job down here...
Next semester is going to be extremely busy. Once I get back to college, I have to put together a graphic design portfolio of ten to fifteen of my best works. Luckily my professor will help me with that. For my Creative Writing major, I have to put together a "chapbook", a paperback staple-bound book that ranges from 20-50 pages long and contains work/s I have written during college. The best part is that the students get to have 100% control of the design aspects (within reason, of course. As the assignment instructions said, "Please do not make your chapbook sing like a greeting card when opened, shaped like a DNA helix or only readable with a decoder ring.") As a Graphic Design double major, I already have some fun plans for the chapbook!
On top of that, I've been focused on entering more writing and graphic design competitions. I made it into the semifinals of the international Adobe Design Achievement Awards in June, and since then I won two prizes from the American Graphic Design Association competition. Now I want to enter more competitions!
I've entered my writing in competitions and magazines around my campus, but I realized I should branch out and enter my work in other literary magazines and online competitions. It'll only boost my chances of getting published.
Speaking of getting published, I have also made it a goal for 2016 to convert my novel Le Bonhomme du Minuit into a manuscript that I can send off for publication. So far I have two chapters formatted. Because of the story's enormous length, I'm going to split it into a trilogy. Ideally I'd like to be finished with formatting the first book's manuscript by May, when I graduate. The first book is probably going to end at where Chapter 21 is now , although depending on how the word count changes based on the edits I make, the first book may end earlier or later.
All this along with graduation in the spring (and especially the preparations beforehand) is going to make me very busy this year.

24...or really 18...hours of Sonic 2023
Today is 24 Hours of Sonic…sort of? 5:00 AM: I woke up this time knowing that I’ll need every bit of sleep I can get for today’s long trip. To make a long story short, I have company-related work (hopefully a one-time occurrence) that was not negotiable and planned for June 23rd. I have to drive what is essentially a circle around the eastern half of Massachusetts for this, so I wanted to have as much sleep as possible. 8:30 AM: I’ve been playing Sonic music in the car my whole drive. If you have ever driven through Boston (or anywhere remotely near Boston) during rush hour, you know the hellscape that I experienced today. To pass the time in bumper-to-bumper traffic, I switched the song to “Livin’ in the City” from Sonic R, turned the volume up and played it over and over again with my windows open. It was funny to me, at least. I wonder if anyone else in listening range had heard the song before? 7:00 PM: My voyage is done! To my surprise, I didn’t get tired of listening to only

24 Hours of Sonic 2021
Today is the 30th anniversary of Sonic the Hedgehog! Unfortunately, I couldn’t do a real “24 Hours of Sonic” this year due to work. I would’ve taken the day off, but my parents are visiting and they would want to spend the whole day with me if I did that. I’m posting more out of tradition than anything else. 6:00 AM: Super Sonic was added to Sonic Forces Speed Battle! I find it hilariously ironic that Tails of all characters STILL doesn’t have an alt, but almost every other character (including minor characters like Zavok, Zazz and the Babylon Rogues) has at least one alt. Some characters, like Amy, Shadow and Rouge, even have two. 7:25 AM: I listened to a Sonic playlist on my morning commute. 5:15 PM: I listened to Sonic soundtracks on my drive home from work. I had an unusually long drive home today. 8:00 PM: I added my Sonic the Hedgehog 30th Anniversary print to Etsy. It is now available for purchase! I also added it to my social media accounts. 10:30 PM: I now have almost 100
2021 Plans and a Big Surprise
Happy New Year, everyone! I am cautiously optimistic about the future of large events next year. The reports about when society will return to normal keep shifting anywhere from April to autumn. I have over a dozen conventions and outdoor art shows in my 2021 event schedule, some that were pushed forward from 2020 and others that I have had the opportunity to add throughout the year. Because my workplace is considered “essential,” I was blessed to be able to work full-time throughout 2020. As you have noticed, I haven’t posted much this year. This doesn’t have anything to do with the pandemic…at least, not directly. Like many people, I took up a couple new hobbies during the pandemic. You will begin to see the fruits of these as 2021 unfolds, and I will become more active on social media. This leads me to my big surprise. In truth, it’s TWO big surprises! One is a medium I haven’t worked in for years, and the other, the first full-scale production of its kind from me, has been in
