May Sunlight

...though I have to say my May's been anything but sunny. It's rained almost the entire month.

This is the May picture for my 2012 calendar, and it's one of my favorite pictures in the whole calendar. I absolutely adore pythons; they're such beautiful snakes. This one is an albino ball python (you can see a picture here [link] )

Speaking of pythons, I am working on a vase in my pottery class that has a python curled around the exterior of the vase. Weirdly enough, I spent most of today working on it, yet I drew this months ago (around December 2011). This vase is really amazing and I plan to upload some photos of it once I'm finished with the exhibition and can take it home.

Another interesting note about this picture is that it was the first picture I shaded using Photoshop. Prior to that, I shaded using Inkscape (though since I drew this in December 2011, most if not all of the mixed media drawings I've uploaded were shaded in Photoshop). The shading difference is extremely subtle, if noticeable at all, but it's a little faster to do it in Photoshop.
