Bottle: Illustration Print for Christmas

Description

(in case you're confused, it's a photo of a print of an illustration)

Today I stopped by my local print shop (a tiny place, but very reasonably-priced, with great staff and plenty of charm) and got this picture printed. I just got it framed this morning, and just in time, too. A huge snowstorm hit this afternoon (the second or third one this December!) and we have around 2-3 feet of snow. It's pretty unusual for December (at least before Christmas) for us to have this much snow, especially in recent years! :w00t: I'm glad I'm home for it.

Believe or not, Home Goods has much prettier frames than Michael's (though a smaller selection) and this one was cheaper than similar frames I saw at Michael's, too. It's perfect; it matches the decor of the master bedroom (or really, anywhere she'll want to hang it) and the texture brings to mind champagne bubbles.
The photo didn't come out as well as I'd hoped; I don't have my SLR camera on me (I'm at home until mid-January on winter break). Also, I'll have to wait to edit it more, since I also left my mouse in my dorm (oddly enough, I recall packing my wireless mouse, but I couldn't find it in with my luggage). It's not like I'm helpless without my mouse, but it definitely limits what I can do, especially when it comes to Illustrator. I never cease to be impressed by my close friend and fellow Graphic Design major Marie, who does all of her projects using the only the pad on her laptop.

Perhaps unsurprisingly (considering my habit of uploading things WAY after I actually create them) the print isn't of a new picture. I created the picture as part of a project for my first graphic design course, Computer Applications of Graphic Design. We were assigned to make three photoreal vectors of a watch, a car and a bottle (yes, in the beginning graphic design course. The professors like to weed out the untalented before they can go onto further classes). We could pick which watch, car and bottle we wanted to draw, but they had to be approved by the professor and we were expected to draw all three. I'll upload all three illustrations in a set at a later time. Knowing me, that could be just about any time.

I'm going to give it to my mother for Christmas. She's been nagging me for a print of this picture since she first saw it. :)
As an art student, I've learned to get good at printing and matting...fast. Starting sophomore year, the classes require you to mount your projects, so I've been getting some good experience.

I have the vector version here: Champagne Bottle by Magenta-Fantasies

Illustration made on Adobe Illustrator, framing and matting done by me.
